-is completely done nursing. She stopped on her own a week or 2 ago. Instead of doing the sign for "milk" and assuming she would nurse, she continued to do the sign, but would point to her sippy cup! How a 1-year-old's mind can make a switch like that is beyond me. For an entire year (and a even a bit more) she knew that the sign for "milk" meant the entire event of nursing. Then, on her own, she realized she could get milk from a cup (which is even a completely different substance) and now the sign for "milk" means cow's milk in a sippy cup. She made the transition on her own and we're both happy with it!
-still sucks her thumb a lot. I think I forgot to mention it before, but Kylan is a big-time thumb sucker- something she randomly started at 3 months and has never given up. I have to say it's kind of adorable (and has certainly made her a good, self-soothed sleeper!), but I'm a little worried about our orthodontist bill in a few years. Yikes.

-tries to do signs for many more words. We've now added "bunny rabbit", "elephant", "sleep", "bed", "please", "bath" and "toothbrush" for sure. We're working on "Thank You", "Mommy" and "Daddy". For some reason those ones have yet to catch on.
-has a bit of a problem with biting. When she gets angry she'll bite anything around- including the floor! It's something we're trying to nip in the bud before it gets any worse. (She also has bouts with hitting and spitting, but those are much less than the biting at this point.)
-finishes the end of "Bushell and a Peck" with hugging me around the neck. She knows that line is coming before I even get to it, and she gives me a big hug around the neck before I can even say it. So cute.
-loves her cousins Lily, Emma, and their dogs, Abbey and Amos. She thinks going to their house is the best thing in the world because there's a baby (Emma), dogs, and her big cousin Lily who she gets to run around and play with!
-would eat bananas all day if we let her. Not sure how a 1-year-old's stomach can hold a banana AND an entire meal, but Kylan does it. If she sees one, it's all she wants. And she can down that thing in amazing time.
-likes to watch Dancing with the Stars. She puts her arms in the air in a perfect dancer's pose and starts shaking and moving to the music. It's so funny/cute. She does the same with the songs on American Idol.
-thinks the Nasonex commercial is the best. The little bee that talks through the whole commercial holds her attention like not many things can.
-is a Mommy's girl for the most part. If I'm around, she usually wants me for everything she needs or wants- probably just due to the fact that I'm the one with her day in and day out, 24/7.
-has so much hair that it reaches the middle of her back when we comb it out after a bath.
-loves Mommy and Daddy's cell phones (or ANYONE'S for that matter). She loves her toy ones, but nothing beats the real thing if she can get her hands on it.
-still makes it through late-night Taco Bell every Thursday night. It's been a tradition for a group of our friends for the last 2 and a half years, and other than when she made me deathly ill while in utero, we still go every week and bring Kylan along! It's a late night for her, but she makes up for it by sleeping in the next morning.
-thinks Grandpa's watch is the coolest thing. Every time she sees my dad, she wants to play with his watch if he's wearing it. She does the same with my mom's necklaces, pins, or earrings.
-likes licking the beaters when Grandma is baking. My mom took pictures last time Kylan was over during a cookie-baking session. Kylan's face was covered in batter as she so happily licked the beaters.
-likes milk now! She used to be iffy about it and would rather have something else. But these days, it's all she asks for- and she can gulp it down like a champ!
Just some recent updates. It seems she's learning more and more and more every day, so I know there are many things I'm failing to document. But I'm sure they'll come up at some point or another.
