This has been a good week for Kylan. Beginning last Friday with my sister, Rachel (or as we all call her, "Ra" -pronounced "Ruh"), coming home from college on Spring Break. She is a sophomore Media/Film major at Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY. We all hate having her so far away, so when she comes home we're so excited. Espeically with Kylan being so young, she grows and changes so much between the times Ra sees her. So we've been spending a lot of time hanging out, going to the park, having family dinners, going out shopping, etc throughout the last week.

Then Saturday was the huge snowstorm. My brother, Nate, and his wife Trisha came over and played in the snow with us. We bundled Kylan up in a snowsuit, and let her roam in the shoveled driveway between the big piles of snow. She thought it was all so much fun- until we stuck her straight down in the snow! We had about 15 inches of snow at that point, so it was up past her waist. She did not enjoy being stuck with no way to move or get out. But other than that, a fun time was had.
Sunday was Kylan's first circus! Rod and Patty (Ryan's parents) live near Youngstown and The Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey circus was coming to the Chevrolet Center there. So Ryan's sister Courtney, her husband Ryan (yes, she married a man with the same name as her brother), and their two girls Lily (who's 2 1/2) and Emma (who's 3 1/2 months) drove down from Erie, PA and met us and Rod and Patty there. I was very curious how my ever-active, NEVER-to-sit-still child would do at a 2 hour circus. I figured most of my time would be spent down in the hallways chasing a roaming child. However, much to my and Ryan's surprise she behaved VERY well for the majority of the time. We had really great seats so the tigers, horses, dogs, zebras, elephants, clowns, trapeze artists, etc were pretty close to us. And with all the lights and music, she was entertained! She actually sat still on our laps (each parent, grandparent, aunt/uncle had rotating children on laps the whole time). She clapped excitedly every time an animal came out or did a trick. And she pointed emphatically at all the new things around her. She did all the signs she knew for anything she saw. Apparently any circle equals a ball- so at a 3-ring circus, there are 3 big circles on the floor which she kept pointing to and doing the sign for. The little dressed up circus dogs were exciting to her as well because she knows the sign for "dog"- which she did over and over and over. What I couldn't get her to understand was that tigers are basically just big cats. I kept doing the sign for cat while the tigers were out and she just looked at me like "Mom, you're crazy. No cat I've seen is that big." All in all, it was a great time for all of us. Plus, Kylan loves Lily and Emma so much and we love to see the girls together!
Speaking of Kylan's cousins- SHE IS FINALLY GOING TO HAVE A COUSIN ON THE BUSCH SIDE OF THE FAMILY! Nate and Trisha announced this week that they are having a baby! Trisha's due on November 20th- exactly 9 months to the day after Kylan's birthday! We are SO excited for them, and Kylan is going to be an amazing big cousin! It seems like so long to wait to meet this new little one. We are already counting down the days. What exciting and happy news!
And speaking of Nate and Trisha, they will be great parents because they are the BEST aunt and uncle to Kylan. They see her multiple times a week (sometimes every day) and just spend time reading with her, playing with her, taking her out to places with them, etc. And with their flexible work schedules (Nate working for RiverTree and Trisha at Starbucks) we get to do many things together. This week, on our 5o-degree day, they came and we took Kylan for walk. Then on our 55-degree day, they came over with 6-year-old twins that they baby-sit (Mia and Sammy) to play with Kylan and go to the park to feed ducks. The twins loved Kylan and Kylan loved them back!
