Our little (ok, not so little) bubba is now 16 months! At this point in her life Kylan:
-just recently had her first scraped knee and band-aid (and learned the word boo boo)
-has continued trying to learn to jump from Grandma. She can't quite do it, but it's so cute to watch her raise herself up onto her tip toes and act like she's using all her might to "jump" as high as possible.
-loves blowing bubbles (well, letting someone else blow them and watching them fly, because if she tries to "blow" them, she eats it) and says "bubble!!" enthusiastically the entire time.
-her liking towards Dora (the Explorer) has turned into a slight obsession. We can't say the word "Dora" in front of her unless we are ready and prepared to stop everything, go sit in front of the TV and watch one of her favorite episodes (usually the one with the parade where they all have instruments and make music together- she loves it and joins in with her own!) She, many times, throughout the day brings the remote control over to me saying "Dora, Dora" and signing "please" with her free hand. It's hard not to let her just watch it every time she asks since she's being polite (and cute, I might add) about it. And when we say "no" she's sad and cries, and it's hard to take her mind off of it.
-wants to see every picture on the camera display as soon as (or even before!) we take it. Most pictures are of her her running toward the camera because she's so eager to come see.
-loves the zoo! We got a family pass for the year and we've already gone 3 times within 2 1/2 weeks. It's a fun experience for her, gets us out of the house, and adults can enjoy it, too.
-wears size 4 diapers still.
-almost all shoes have to be size 4 now.
-still wears mainly 12-18 months clothes.
-is trying to repeat almost anything we say. This is our most recent and fun development. (I won't go through the whole list of words she can say or tries to say since I've been doing that in entries along the way.) This is so fun because her little voice is adorable and her mispronunciations are so endearing. Her little brain and mouth are working hard to come together and get things right. This month has been huge for her verbal development. I was afraid, until now, that she wasn't going to be talking "on time". No worries now. She tries to say anything/everything all day long.
-recognizes the Snapple logo if she sees it on anything (much to Grandpa's happiness).
-throws/drops things just so that she can so "Uh-Oh!"
-laughs when everyone else is laughing at something funny. She can't be left out and, at times, her timing is uncanny. It really seems like she knows what's being said and knows when to laugh.
-loves that its summer and can go outside every day and kick balls, run around, go to parks, feed ducks, chase her cat, wave to EVERY car driving by, etc.
-wants to use a fork so badly, but can't usually get any food on it. So she ends up always holding her fork in one hand, and picking up her food with the other hand and feeding herself.
-basically eats anything but especially loves: anything adults have, cheerios, crackers, any fresh fruit, mixed vegetables, bananas (still obsessed), milk, string cheese... (and the list goes on).
-throws what I call "hand fits". When she's stuck in a car seat or high chair or something of the sort and can't throw a complete tantrum, she does this thing where she makes a scrunched up mad face and starts flapping her hands and hit them and things of the sort.
-is choosing her "Praise Baby" Christmas DVD as the thing she wants to watch above all others most days. Except maybe when I mention Dora.
-has started calling "Mama!" from another room if I'm running around putting laundry away or picking up the house and she can't see me. She thinks its fun that I can answer and she doesn't necessarily have to see me (though after a couple minutes she always comes and finds me).
-is growing, learning, developing, etc in more ways than we can keep up with. Such fun.
